TRAIN CAR MURAL

Perkasie’s Gateway Mural Project aims to transform a long-vacant, blighted parcel into an attractive, colorful, WELCOME, greeting visitors to Perkasie’s downtown commercial district. The project will beautify this important arrival gateway by creating a unique, custom designed MURAL on a long-abandoned SEPTA freight car, and by refreshing the appearance of the historic SEPTA Freight House on the same parcel.

The project is being completed with the help of a Bucks County Tourism Grant provided by Visit Bucks County and in conjunction with Perkasie Borough & Septa.

PROJECT GOALS:

  • Create an exciting and attractive arrival gateway for visitors to Perkasie’s commercial downtown district.

  • Transform a long-blighted historic site into an asset that will drive visitor numbers to the site and increase commercial activity in Perkasie’s revitalized downtown center.

  • Celebrate Perkasie’s history, community and sense of place by incorporating images and graphical. elements into a public art project that represents our rich historic, civic, commercial, recreational and commercial assets.

  • Connect Perkasie into a growing inventory of murals and public art projects across Bucks County and support the development of a County-wide art-based tourism initiative.
